The "Saved by" legend is not a prompt and not an invitation for you
to enter this information; instead, it is a declaration of what is
going to be stored under this detail. If it is blank, that is
because you have not yet identified yourself to
OpenOffice. Everything that you put in the Insert Version Comment
window is a comment and - as you say - will be saved as such.
To provide your personal details to OpenOffice, go to Tools |
Options... | OpenOffice.org | User Data and enter your details there.
