No kidding, though, thanks to the many who have written in to help me,
and also to reassure me that it's not just me.
I have to tell you, however, that if my workaround continues to work
(pasting into a blank formatted file), it strikes me as easier and
faster than the other suggestions I've heard, even if I could get those
to work too. YMMV.
