I think the function key is a Laptop thang.

Note also that all keybord shortcuts are programmable under
autocorrect/autoreplace options. Very handy for "your" common
characters. For instance:
The meteorologist could programme [Ctrl][Alt][o] to be degrees symbol.
A family member living abroad could set [Ctrl][4] for the
alternate currency symbol as many English here in New Zealand do.
