Make sure you check out the system requirements for each OS. For OOo these can be found here: http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/sys_reqs_20.html You'll find that Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice already installed, so does not need to be installed separately. However, the version that is used with Ubuntu is 'ubuntuised'.
