That is definitely an area that could be improved around here.

As OpenOffice is driven by developers and volunteers for the most part,
if you can provide feedback on using OpenOffice with screen readers it
would help the developers to improve the product.
Well, leaving the concept of who drives what alone - Recently IBM's
announced an expansion of it's involvement with OpenOffice.org. To the
best of my knowledge one of the technologies IBM will be bringing to the
party is precisely dealing with this issue.
