I'm afraid no language appears at bottom of the dialog box when I hit F7. I
can't do anything to it cos it closes as I hit OK.
D. box simply states that spell check is complete and that's that. I am
trying it now since I downloaded the new language pack and v. 2.3

What do you mean by it refuses to check ? When you hit F7, do you have a
language set at the bottom of the dialog ?
Does it appear for all documents or just new/old ones ?

What's your Default paragraph style configuration for the language (font
tab) ?
