PROBLEM: I have about 4800 rows of data in the Excel version of Open Office... nearly each row has existing data in it (ie..a picture file.jpg). I have to import this spreadsheet into a web page.. but I have to change all the file names (.jpg) to say "/files/1841186/uploaded/" at the beginning of each file... is there a way to massivly change all the files at once or do I have to go into each individual cell and double click and edit that data?
example.. "bird.jpg" needs to read "/files/1841186/uploaded/bird.jpg"
Hopefully I made that question and example clear??
Thanks

Hi Michelle,
I assume you mean that you have the text "bird.jpg" in a cell, rather
than an actual picture of a bird? If so, the following should work:
[NB If you want to change every single non-blank cell in your
spreadsheet, you can omit step 1 and there is no need to tick "Current
selection only" in step 3.]
1) Highlight the block of cells you want to change (it doesn't matter if
this includes some blank cells - they will not be affected).
2) Click Edit-Find & Replace.
3) Click on More Options at the bottom of the Find and Replace dialog
box. Then make sure that "Current selection only" and "Regular
Expressions" are both ticked.
4) Type .+ in the "Search for" box. Type /files/1841186/uploaded/& in
the "Replace with" box.
5) Click on "Replace all"
Hope that helps.
To find out more about regular expressions, look for "List of regular
Expressions" in the OpenOffice help.
