What platform (OS) are you on? Not that I necessarily would know the
answer (though I suspect you might be using Windows Vista? since the
crippled user rights cause so many similar problems), but folks can't
answer q's like this unless you let us know whether you are on Mac,
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, or what?

One question. You have uninstalled OpenOffice. Did you stop the
Quickstart program from running? In Windows it is in the small set of
icons in the bottom right of your screen. It has two birds on it and
hovering over it it shows "OpenOffice.org 2.3 Quickstarter". Stop the
program and you should be able to delete these files and folders.
