Provided your Microsoft documents are prior to 2007, sure, OpenOffice will read them fine. Besides storing your documents on a USB stick, you can also get OpenOffice for your USB stick from: http://portableapps.com/apps/office/openoffice_portable Totally self contained, you not only can transport your documents between computers, you can transport the entire program also - without leaving any residual files on the host computer! That's how my son gets his projects done at college. He uses the library computers and his dorm roommate's computer.

So if I download Open Office, can I read my MS Office documents on it? Thank you for your help. R. Termehr
