[users] Save problem

When I save  open office documents half the time  they save as a 
"07%-file"  file type instead of my selected word or pdf or odt type.  
This file then is not always openable by others.  It is a pesty problem 
which is greatly affecting my ability to share info with others. 

Any solution ideas would be appreciated.  I am using ver 2.0 on a Mac 
with os-x 10.4.10
