Hello everybody!!
I have written a couple of times to this forum without getting any
answer ; apparently nobody gives a damn about Base. OK, I recognize all
answers are given by people who volunteer to help, so maybe no one has a
good Base knowledge.
I wanted to write about something else : I have been using OO since 3
years and the use I make of it is quite basic. Write letters and reports
with styles and numbering of both pages and paragraphs, I use Calc for
making tables with low to medium complication formulas and a little bit
of Presentation. I have never, repeat never, run into the problems I
witness every day and by the hundreds that the users of this forum
encounter. I choose some of the most popular : impossible to download,
doesn't open, is it compatible with Vista, cannot print, Calc doesn't
respond to some weird calculation, and so one. I admire the patience of
the volunteers who answer but I'm really flabbergasted about this kind
of questioning. It is enough to read the mail messages of the forum for
a couple of days and all the answers to these questions are displayed
dozens of times. What do these people do ? Do they know how to turn on a
computer ? I think that most of the basic questions can be answered by
these people if they would just take the time to think for a couple of
minutes and to read the daily mail.
OK, now back to me : how can I create a calculated field in Base ? Quite
a simple one, it would be "field A + an integer = field B". I read all
the documentation of the OO site without finding an answer. Thanks for
the attention.
Regards, A.Muller
