When OpenOffice.org is installed, one of the windows mentions opening
MS Office files with OOo. Make sure all three boxes are empty. Leaving
them empty will keep MS Office as your default. Double clicking a MS
Office file will open it in MS Office.
You can also open the same files (as long as they are not in the 2007
office formats) using OOo by first opening OOo and using File > Open.
OOo installs in its own folder and does not interfere with MS Office at
all (unless of course you did not leave those three boxes unchecked during
installation). Several people on this mailing list have computers either
at home and/or work with both office suites installed.
