What symbols would I use to delete a space in front of a paragraph using the Search and Replace function?
One thing that may help here is one of the Autocorrect functions. Go to Tools | AutoCorrect... | Options and you will see "Delete spaces and tabs at beginning and end of paragraph" options. Depending on how you are working, you may find those useful.
But to answer your question, I suspect that you may not mean "in front of a paragraph" but actually in front of a paragraph *mark* - that is, behind a paragraph, in fact. If so, the search string you need is " $" (space-dollar). That matches a single space, but only when it occurs at the end of a paragraph. If you want to match a possible plurality of spaces there, use " *$" (space-asterisk-dollar) instead.
If you really do mean to match spaces before paragraphs, you need "^ " (circumflex-space) or "^ *" (circumflex-space-asterisk) as the case may be.
In all cases, you replace these strings with nothing. Don't forget to tick "Regular expressions" in the Find & Replace dialogue box. Do read up on regular expressions in the help text.
I trust this helps. Brian Barker --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
