Sounds as if you have run into the quite common Windows Installer problem. This should fix it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 Quit all OpenOffice programs, especially the Quickstarter. Follow the instructions on the web page I just gave you. After that you should be able to install OO2.3 without any problems; you do not have to uninstall 2.2first.
