Please see Issue 72559 ->
Dictionary configuration deleted at upgrade
<http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=72559>

... and perhaps Issue 72957, too ->
User settings overridden by installation
<http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=72957>

Best would be, to create a security copy of folder <ooo>
[path of standard installation on WinXP:
<C:\Programs\OpenOffice.org 2.x\share\dict\ooo>],
especially file <dictionary.lst>,
and to replace the installed (updated) folder.
