Hello Julia,
Only an older ("legacy") version of OpenOffice.org will work on Jaguar
(Mac OS X 10.2.x):

Please read the How-To about installing X11 and OOo on you Mac (it's
all there in the Mac porting pages) and come back to the users list if
you need more help.
You'll lose quite some of the rich possibilities the newer versions of
OOo have to offer (the actual version now is 2.3).
The alternative would be to make another partition on your Mac, and
install a blend of Linux there, then run the newest version of
OpenOffice.org on Linux.
