For single-button mouses, Mac has Apple-click (or Ctrl-click) as the alternative for right-click. In a table, it brings on the contextual menu... hm hm hm... that includes "number recognition". Sorry, I hadn't seen the option in the contextual menu before! The tick in the Tools > Options etc. is changed by the contextual menu option.
