When I use the function =sumif(XXX), I only see the formula but not the results. Am I missing something?

There are two obvious possibilities here:

o Have you slipped in an inappropriate space before the "=" sign in the formula? This prevents Calc from seeing it as a formula, presumably interpreting it as text instead.

o Go to Tools | Options... | OpenOffice.org Calc | View | Display. Is there a tick by Formulas? That tells Calc to do exactly what you don't want: to display the formulas in cells rather than their results. Remove the tick.

When using the same function, where the range is A1:X100, I get a 504 error is it a bug?

There is no reason why this range should give this error. Indeed, it doesn't - at least, not always. There is probably something else wrong with your formula; I cannot tell without seeing it. The obvious possibility - which does produce a 504 error - is that the third parameter (the "sum_range") does not fit the first (the "range") - in other words, that they are not the same shape.

I trust this helps.
