There are two obvious possibilities here:
o Have you slipped in an inappropriate space before the "=" sign in
the formula? This prevents Calc from seeing it as a formula,
presumably interpreting it as text instead.
o Go to Tools | Options... | OpenOffice.org Calc | View |
Display. Is there a tick by Formulas? That tells Calc to do exactly
what you don't want: to display the formulas in cells rather than
their results. Remove the tick.
When using the same function, where the range is A1:X100, I get a
504 error is it a bug?
There is no reason why this range should give this error. Indeed, it
doesn't - at least, not always. There is probably something else
wrong with your formula; I cannot tell without seeing it. The
obvious possibility - which does produce a 504 error - is that the
third parameter (the "sum_range") does not fit the first (the
"range") - in other words, that they are not the same shape.
