Actually you *are* subscribed to gmane, and hence to the list by proxy. When you responded to the gmane email & received an ack back from gmane your email address was entered as a valid subscriber to the list *via gmane*. Think of gmane as being a trusted subscriber and/or proxy to the list (and many, many, other lists); nothing gets posted unless the poster is cleared by gmane first. > > One can tell the message came via gmane because there's a > "X-Injected-Via-Gmane: > http://gmane.org/" header. > > Also, this list seems to go to "gmane.comp.openoffice.questions" and *not* > to "gmane.comp.openoffice.general". Does anyone know what the "general" > group is please? As others have pointed out: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Also note that I think that OOo is the one responsible for changing the gmane group name - I've posted about this previously. Gmane doesn't (AFAIK) doesn't just arbitrarily assign group names by itself. Anyway, give it a try for awhile & see how you like it. I for one find it considerably nicer to use NNTP via gmane rather than have to have my email inbox filled up each day from the multiple lists that I participate in. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
