I am using OO v 2.2.1 on Debian Lenny. I have a massive spreadsheet
and I need to extract certain cells into some bar charts. So far, I
can do that, except I cannot seem to edit the legend text - it comes
up as "row 12", "row 18", etc.
Is there any way to edit this text so I can give the labels some
meaningful names?
It sounds as if you have the data series in rows, with the column
labels in a previous row. There are various ways of affecting the legend:
o Construct an extra column with the required legends, to the left
of the data rows.
o Include the labels column in the data range when you create the chart.
o In the second panel of the Chart Wizard, make sure that "First
column as label" is ticked (as well, probably, as "First row as label").
Alternatively:
o Enter the required legend items into cells somewhere.
o In the third panel of the Chart Wizard, select each Data series in turn.
o For each Data series (row), enter the location of the required
legend in "Range for name". More easily, select the "Select data
range" button and then click on the cell containing the legend.
If you have already created the chart,
o Double-click the chart to select it.
o Right-click the legend and choose Data Ranges... | Data Series.
o Continue as above.
I trust this helps.
