I didn't dig to deeply. Just went to http://download.openoffice.org/2.3.0/index.html and clicked on the green 'download' graphic. It opens to a selection of Windows and other operating systems. Underneath Windows is the statement 'All versions (>98).' Greater than would mean that 98 is not included. The System Requirements at > http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/sys_reqs_20.html include > Windows 98, and my wife's computer verifies those requirements. Well I defer to the system requirements at your link and the experience you've had. Seems there's some conflicting info on the web site.
