Try *right clicking* on a document and choosing "Open with ...". Then choose
OpenOffice Writer from the list of possible programs. If it's not in the
list, browse to the folder where you installed the software. The program you
want is probably "C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.3\program\swriter.exe".
Note the "2.3" in the middle; you might need to change that if you have an
older version installed. You might want to check the little box labelled
"Always use this program for this type of file". Once you've done that,
double clicking a document will open it with OpenOffice.

Oh, if you are not using Windows then these instructions will be wrong and
you'll have to tell us which Operating System you are using.

Also, please in future don't send e-mails IN ALL UPPER CASE. It's the
equivalent of SHOUTING at people.
