Thanks.  Was referring to this post:

"Sorry, I was hoping that would be the magical clue..

I'm pretty much out of ideas at this point. However, one last attempt; I
am assisting someone in getting protected fillin forms working and the
Novell developer has put up some test code to test the features. Can you
have a look at:

http://florianreuter.blogspot.com/2007/10/field-update-preview-for-windows.html

and download (note it's a full 134Mb) the
http://download.go-oo.org/preview/oodemo.zip

For ref see:
http://florianreuter.blogspot.com/2007/10/update-on-field-work-early-preview.html
and
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=33737

Create a separate test directory, move & unzip there. It will create a
ooo2.3 subfolder. Go to programs and double-click on swriter. See if
that runs. Note: this code is completely independent of any existing OOo
install and/or MSO install, so it will not affect anything else -- it
only runs in the directory that it was installed into. I'm just curious
if this will run for you (I've tested in WinXP Pro and also tested the
linux version & both run fine for me)."

That OoDemo does work. Any insight into how it is different than the current version from openoffice.org?

I now need to determine how to get it to stop asking whether or not I would like for it to run each time I select it. (It doesn't ask me for the "working" 1.1.5 or the "non-working" 2.3). I do clear the "ask me to verify every time I open this file," but it asks me, nevertheless.

I have never heard of a "demo" version of OpenOffice.  Since it's a free download from www.openoffice.org, there's no need for a demo to encourage someone to purchase it.
