1. Importing/converting to what? You didn't mention that...
2. File types has nothing to do with operating systems, so it shouldn't
matter if you have Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, OS/2 or whatever, as
long as there are applications available for your operating system that can
handle your files.
3. The Ubuntu version of OpenOffice.org 2 can convert Works files, however I
don't have such files so I don't know how good the conversion is and if it
includes Works 8 etc. Besides, if you have Ubuntu you wouldn't need Vista
anyway.
4. I think that the best way to convert Works files is to use Works for the
job. Convert to something that can be read by other software. I would guess
that ISO 26300 is not an option in that case, but doc and xls etc should be
possible formats.
