Sorry but I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do. Which
program are you trying to do it with, Writer, Calc, Impress, etc?

Presuming Calc is the Note feature what you're looking for? To use it
click the cell you want to add the note to (don't double-click that
will put the cell in edit mode), now right-click and select "Insert
Note" from the menu that is displayed.

Presuming Writer
- from the menu select Insert>Frame...
- click OK
- the frame will be inserted and there may or may not be a solid line
around the frame with eight small squares on it, one at each corner
and in the middle of each horizontal and vertical solid line.

- - if the frame has a solid line around it without small squares on it
- - - - put the mouse pointer inside the frame so it changes to the 'I-beam'
- - - - click in the frame
- - - - start typing

- - if the frame has the solid line with small squares on it
- - - - click anywhere on the page outside the frame, the small boxes
should disappear, if they don't try clicking elsewhere until the small
squares are gone
- - - - click inside the frame as described above
- - - - start typing

Regarding your font being blue...
- look on the tool bar for the letter A with a line under it, this is
the font color tool
- click the tool to open the color selection
- select the color you wish
