From what I can see, that site is offering one year's support along
with the product, so that's what you are paying for.
Perhaps you are viewing a different site? When I go to
http://www.openofficesuite.com/ it pops up a search listing, one of
which is "Open Office Suite". Click on that "Open Office Suite" link and
it takes you to: http://www.cdearth.com/openoffice-office-suite.htm
That site proclaims: "Free Offer Get this software CD free! + Click here
for this free CD. So I click the "Click here" and it takes me to
https://www.cdearth.com/. On that page I can select "OpenOffice". Click
that and it takes me back to
https://www.cdearth.com/openoffice-office-suite.htm.
Woops... turn on cookies and I finally end up at:
https://www.cdearth.com/index.php?page=shipping
That provides a form for shipping info & I didn't go any further.
The site has been in operation since 2002 so they seem legit. Where did
you find the 1 year support and where did you, or the OP find the $40 price?

One of the links says something like "Full Suite for only $47".
