I have OpenOffice.org 2.2.1 portable on both my USB drives and on my hard drive
(OOo 2.3 won't do Fontworks). When you double click the the file you
downloaded, you have to designate where you want it to install, else it will
default to install on the hard drive. The directions are at portableapps.com
where you should have downloaded it from. Once you install it to whatever,
locate the openofficeportable subdirectory. You'll notice separate icon
shortcuts to execute each function (program) of openoffice. If you installed to
a USB drive, double click on that function of openoffice.. You may want to
install an application launcher on your USB, i.e. Pstart, or the portable apps
application launcher. If you installed openoffice portable on your hard drive,
you may wish to right click each function of openoffice and send each function
as a shortcut icon to the desktop.

After downloading the installer package, you have to double click on
it. This will start the installation of OpenOffice. Just follow the
instructions. After the installation is complete, there should be a
folder & icons for OpenOffice, in the Start menu.
