Look in Windows Help for "File Associations". Follow the instructions to
change the program associated with .doc files from "wordpad.exe" to
"soffice.exe". The soffice.exe program will be in the "program"
sub-directory of the directory in which you installed OpenOffice.
Typically "C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.3\program". Note the "2.3" in
the middle of that. If you are not using v2.3 of OpenOffice this will not
be correct; substitute the relevant version number.
