Open Office was DESIGNED to look a lot like M$Office, to make it easy
for people to migrate to it (IMHO, they copied a few of the glitches and
foibles that they could well have fixed, but somehow they forgot to ask
my opinion :-) ).
However, OO is FREE (as in zero dollars and zero cents), AND it has the
capability of using the new INTERNATIONAL STANDARD Open Document Format
to save files in a way that won't become unreadable one or two releases
down the road. It will also, if you ask nicely, save stuff in an M$Word
compatible form so you can send it to your friends who are still using
Dark-age software like M$Office (but keep working on THEM to get OO TOO!).

To whom it may concern:
I've just downloaded Open Office 2.3. I went through your tutorials and
played with the applications Writer/Calc (Word/Excel) a bit. I did not notice
much of a difference between the two, for the most part it looked identicle,
unless I'm just overlooking it.
Maybe you could add to your site a list of the differences and advantages
of your new software (list of new shortcuts, and how it's more user friendly),
a comparison if you will.
What do you mean by original application? Also, there's a list of
changes on the OpenOffice web site.
