I can provide an example xls file with a few thousands lines that
takes about 3 minutes to open in OOo but instantly in Excel. This
forced us to use Excel on a recent project, just days after convincing
my team to switch to OOo. Needless to say, everybody is back on MS
Office, except for me and my Ubuntu installation. That means that I
have a hard time sharing documents with the team, once again.

The file is output data from materials testing equipment. Each of the
four sheets has three columns of data and a chart. The file is 1.8 MB
in size and does not contain confidential information, so I can freely
share it upon request. I can post it to a bug if need be.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
