Thanks, Klaas, I appreciate this one, too. Where is the OO implementation of
RegX documented in a comprehensive way? I've found bits, app by app and
question by question. I would love to find a comprehensive document.
Thanks,
Elchanan

Subject: Re: [users] problem with data filters - please help

*Dimitar DImitrov* typed up the following, at 20-Nov-07 21:26 (UTC+1100) ;

in the office we migrate from excell to openoffice. Now we have problems
with Data filters. I need to create a filter with conditions like:
"begins with, ends with, contains" and some more. Here in openoffice
calc I can create filters only with conditions : =, <, >, <>. How to use
more conditions?

If you click on the "More" button, you can select the option to use Regular Expressions.

The help file gives you a table of regular expressions that will replicate what you are looking for.

For example the expression "\<book" is the same as "begins with book".

I've only ever seen the table in the help files, unfortunately. My requirement for using the expressions is fairly low, so I haven't made a concerted effort to find more information.

Looking at the documentation site, there are a couple of Calc chapters that are still being written. In particular, Chapter 3 - Formulas and Functions, may cover it, when it gets published.
