To the 6 people who responded with suggestions - MANY THANKS. I carefully
went through the advice; as a result, I found my problem. I have downloaded
a number of documents from my PC and used one of them as my default. This
had as its font Maiandra, my favourite. But this isn't a font available in
the eee pc version of openoffice. Once I'd changed to a supported font, all
was well. But could you stay with me to sort out a few remaining problems
please?
1. when I downloaded a dictionary, I couldn't find English UK - English New
Zealand was the nearest. Is there a UK version? My desktop version of
openoffice does use an English UK version.
2.Can you download extra fonts such as Maiandra - you can on my desktop
version of openoffice - but it doesn't appear to be an option on the eee pc
version
3.Autocorrect works - I think I'm using the English UK version. I've added
a number of corrections of my own, and they appear in the list of
autocorrections - but they don't work as I'm typing documents.
4. I've downloaded the Linux version of Antivar - but I can't see in
file manager where it's stored. Does anyone else know please?
5.If I locate Antivar, how can I bring it into, say, Favourites, so I can
use it easily.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Rod
