For those that need to view M$ Office 2007 files without purchasing
Office 2007, the following M$ websites may be useful:

How to obtain the latest Microsoft Word Viewer

How to install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack so that you
can use earlier versions of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to open and
to save files from 2007 Office programs

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and
  PowerPoint 2007 File Formats

  Brief Description

Open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in
the file formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and
  PowerPoint 2007.

But be forewarned - The following text is from the 2nd of the urls
provided above:

Step 4: Visit Microsoft Update again

To verify that you have all of the latest updates to the
Compatibility Pack, vist the Microsoft Update Web site again:

If you believe that and want M$ to "scan your computer to determine
whether Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft programs are up to
date", go ahead. I won't! (And I'll be changing to Linux before too
long).

"Microsoft Update will scan the computer to determine whether
Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft programs are up to date. If
Windows or the Microsoft programs on the computer are up to date,
you will not be prompted to install the latest updates."

The question is, what is it really looking for and what else will it
do to your system?
