Sorry for the Off Topic but I don't know who else to ask ...
I've noticed that many of you in this list have e-mail signatures along
the lines of

No virus found in this outgoing message.
Checked by AVG Free Edition. Version: 7.5.503 / Virus Database:

Please, how did you achieve this? I have searched the AVG documentation
and the Thunderbird documentation. I've Googled. Must I believe you
maintain an up-to-date text file with all those version numbers and
point your mail program at it? I hope not ...
If you prefer please do ignore the last line of my signature and reply
to me personally. Thanks.
I believe I read that there are plans to integrate Thunderbird with OOo,
so the subject isn't really off-topic, just ahead of its time.
It's an AVG Free setting, buried under several layers of dialogs.
Start at the AVG Free Control Center. Highlight "E-mail Scanner".
Click the "Properties" button.
On the "Plug-ins" tab of the Email Scanner tabbed dialog, make sure that
"Personal email scanner" is showing in the "Installed Plug-ins" box.
Click the "Configure" button.
On the "Test Options - Email Scanner" dialog in the "Email Scanning"
area, you have the option of scanning incoming and outgoing email. If
you want AVG Free to append a message to say it was scanned, check the
appropriate "Certify Mail" box.
