I'm having a devil of a time trying to install and run Open Office on my Mac 10.5 leopard system. Is Open Office compatible with this Mac? How can I install and use Open Office?

What's the problem installing? You should just be able to drag the .app bundle to /Applications or wherever you like. As far as running it:

* It is crucial to get Leopard updated. Run 'Software Update' or otherwise install 10.5.1.

* OpenOffice needs the X11 windowing utility, and Leopard's X11 is problematic. Better install the updated X11 from http:// trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz/wiki/Releases . The most recent is 2.1.1 [first item on the list].

* You don't say what version OpenOffice you have, so i'll assume you are using 2.3.1...

Using a rusty Amiga 4000T, a shiny PowerMac G5, & a homebuilt Ubuntu box

Everybody is talking about the weather but nobody does anything about it.
