What's the problem installing? You should just be able to drag
the .app bundle to /Applications or wherever you like. As far as
running it:
* It is crucial to get Leopard updated. Run 'Software Update' or
otherwise install 10.5.1.
* OpenOffice needs the X11 windowing utility, and Leopard's X11 is
problematic. Better install the updated X11 from http://
trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz/wiki/Releases . The most recent
is 2.1.1 [first item on the list].
* You don't say what version OpenOffice you have, so i'll assume you
are using 2.3.1...
