The latest version is currently 2.3.1, but if you don't have the resources for it, you can install 1.1.5, which is the last of the 1.x versions.
When you say partially uninstalled, what's remaining? Installing v1.1.5 or even 1.0.5 may remove what's left of 1.0.1. Also, installing 2.x will not affect any 1.x installation. All these versions are available from www.openoffice.org.
