I suspect the problem is with the OCR software (presumably that supplied
with the HP scanner). As far as a lot of hardware and software designed
for Windows are concerned, Open Office doesn't seem to exist on the
planet. I have the same problem with Omnipage 14 - it has a facility to
enter in one's preferred word processor in the preferences (in my case
OOo), but in operation never finds it. My solution is to set the
preference to save as a RTF file, and then import it into OOo.
Incidentally, it is a longstanding regret of mine that no Linux OCR
works sufficiently well to be usable.

help from HP, but to no avail! I cannot find how to do it in OO help or
documentation either.....Any advice please?
