Hi,

I have used Open Office for awhile and decided that I didn't like that the
program "took over" all my Microsoft Office programs. After I un-installed
OpenOffice, I was left with a lot of SXW files that I had created but cannot
use now. Have any suggestions? I am downloading again OpenOffice out of
desperation, knowing that it will take over again. But I need to access
those SXW files. Can you use open office only on SXW files and chose not to
open PowerPoint with it?

During installation you'll be asked if you want OOo to be the default program for several Microsoft Office file types. Make sure the boxes by those file types are not checked and OOo won't take them over.
