Hi Mike,

I've been hoping to see answers to your questions too. Since none have shown
up yet I'll offer what I've found regarding the question above.

First, the following works for US dollars. Don't know how it behaves for
other currency formats.

US dollars display correctly for me when I create a field with the following
attributes in the field's design...
Field Type = Decimal

Length = 10 (the default width is 10. The width calculation includes decimal
places. Not sure if the width calculation includes the decimal place
itself.)

Decimal Places = 2 (default is 0 so I set it to 2)

Format example = $0.00 (To get this the small button labeled with an
ellipsis "..." at the right end of the example box must be clicked. Once
clicked the Field Format dialog box opens. Click the Format tab, set the
Category to Currency and then pick the currency format you wish to use. Then
click OK, save your design and you should be good to go.)

When this field design is used in the table the values always appear as
dollars on the forms without applying any formatting to the field on the
form. To make the $s right align in the field on the form it is necessary
to:
- open the form in design mode
- right click the field
- select "Group > Edit Group"
- double-click the entry area of the field
- select the General tab of the formatted field dialog
- look for the alignment property and change it to right

hope this helps
