Before considering using a full Office suite (word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, etc) you may want to become more familiar with the tools already existing on your machine.

Unless you have very specific needs, using the application TextEdit, available with Leopard, should be enough for most of what you have to write and print out with your machine.

As for the spreadsheet and presentation software needs, they are up to you to evaluate, but if I were you, I would not try to go there unless I really understood what such software allows me to do.

Also, if you are convinced that your computer literacy skills are not sufficient _but_ that your needs are real, you may want to first use a "sister" application to OpenOffice.org: NeoOffice. NeoOffice offers the same features with the same freedom because it is based on OpenOffice.org.

Cheers,

Dear Sirs

I have just found out about Open Office and it's systems. Would it work on my Mac and would it offer any substantial advantages over the operating system which came with the computer? I have just upgraded to the "Leopard" system but I am not very computer literate.
