Hi all,
I'm using Openoffice 2.3 on Ubuntu 7.10.
While working on a file (OOwriter) it crashed. Thus, then it offered me to
recover the file. But, it entered a looping between opening - crash -
recovery - crash - so on...
That is an important file.
Is there anything I can do to open the file?
Thanks.

Hi all,
After copying the file to another user's home and then loggin as that user, which still uses the default Ubuntu theme, the file can be opened again. I saved it and copy it back to my home. And all is ok now. Interesting that OOo is related to Gnome theme? I use another theme from gnome-look.org.
When I get into this loop, I just cancel the recovery. The file then opens, and nothing is lost that would not also be lost this way. (I've never detected any actual loss, by the way - OOo seems to be somewhat overzealous in "recovering" files, even some that were properly saved and closed.) By the way, I'm using WinXP, so this behavior is not specific to Ubuntu. Can't remember if I've seen it happen on 2.3.1, but it certainly did on earlier versions. On 2.3, I think I most often got into it by trying to keep the heading when splitting a table, and that works fine in 2.3.1.
