As far as I know, nothing else can read Publisher files.
That is correct. Even Microsoft does not have a proper alternative.
Their solution if you simply want a viewer for .PUB files is to download
and install the complete version of the latest MS Publisher. It will
install in Demo mode if you do not have the license key. You can then
use it to view the .PUB files.
You have one other solution. If the originating author of the .PUB file
cannot resend the documents to you in a format that you can read, you
can use one of many online PDF generators such as http://www.pdfonline.com/
I would not recommend this for confidential materials.
