Hi Anthony,
I tried this now and previously, unfortunately it also causes Writer
to crash and go into a file recovery loop from which it cannot recover.
I suspect something is wrong in the the Writer file itself (or there's
a bug.)
So, I am wondering whether it is possible to validate the content.xml
file against a DTD to ensure it does not have invalid content. And
maybe styles.xml too.
Is there a DTD for open office?
Has anyone tried this sort of thing?
Thanks,
Kyle

Using Styles From Another Document or Template
You can import styles from another document or template into the
current document.
1.Choose Format - Styles and Formatting to open the Styles and
Formatting window.
2.Click the arrow next to the New Style from Selection icon to open
the submenu.
3.Choose Load styles.
4.Use the check boxes at the bottom of the dialog to select the
style types that you want to import. To replace styles in the
current document that have the same name as the ones you are
importing, select Overwrite.
5.Do one of the following:
Click an entry in the Categories list, then click the template
containing the styles that you want to use in the Templates list,
and then click OK.
Click From File, locate the file containing the styles that you want
to use, and then click name, and then click Open.
