On my OO 2.2 with Win XP, if I right click the HTML file and choose to open it with *OpenOffice*, or browse to *soffice.exe* and use that, then the file opens in writer/web and I can view the HTML source. As Brian Barker found, choosing *swriter* to open the file results in the View>Source option being unavailable. Weird. On [modern versions of] Windows you can associate different programs with different "actions". You can define and name your own actions. The defined actions all appear in the file's right-click context menu. In an Explorer window, Tools>Folder Options>File Types brings up a list of file types. Scroll to the type you want, highlight it and click Advanced and then Edit. You can now fill in the form with an action name (I suggest "Edit") and an associated program. So, for example you can have HTML files being *opened* with Firefox but *edited* with soffice. This is very convenient if you plan to do a lot of HTML editing. -- Harold Fuchs London, England Please reply *only* to [email protected]
