Dear Sir,

I am trying to set up an ODBC connection using Easysoft Oracle ODBC
driver 3.1. I am facing a problem in interfacing it with OpenOffice.org 2.3.1.
So I need support from your team. We use Oracle database on a Solaris system
and databse name is emp1. So I made all necessary changes in odbc.ini as well
as odbcinst.ini file in /etc.

        When I run ./checksys -d emp1 in /usr/local/easysoft/oracle I get no
error and check is successfully completed. So the driver is working fine. Also,
when I run isql query tool as ./isql -v emp1 in
/usr/local/easysoft/unixODBC/bin, I get a SQL prompt and I can access my
database through it.

But when I try to interface it to OpenOffice, using the procedure given
at http://www.easysoft.com/applications/openoffice_org/odbc.html then I get
through properly till step no. 8. But after entering the password, I am not
able to connect to the data source although I can view my directories. I am
attaching a snapshot of the error with this mail. Please find the attached file
and tell me what is problem.

Also, Easysoft support team suggested me to following method to debug
the above mentioned problem.

Using the user account you run OpenOffice as please run from a shell prompt :-

which odbcinst

If this give you a file name and directory please run :-

odbcinst -j

If the which doesn't run please run :-

cd /usr/local/easysoft/unixODBC/bin
/odbcinst -j

Then check in the files listed to make sure that your data source "emp1" is
correctly configured.

I checked with this and my data source emp1 is correctly configured but
still it is giving me the same error. So I am also sending you an error file.
This file contains the check performed and contents of all the files displayed
by ./odbcinst -j. Please have a look at it and let me know where am I going
wrong with interfacing? Also, on sending this querry back to Easysoft they
suggested me to check that startup scripts of OpenOffice are not setting
ODBCINI or ODBCSYSINI. Can you please tell me where are these scripts located?
Is there any other solution that you offer for ODBC interfacing to Oracle
database on Solaris?

        Waiting for your reply,

Regards,
