Is Entourage set as your *default mail program*? Which version of
OpenOffice are you using? The latest is 2.3. Which version of Windows?
OpenOffice should open your default mail program in this context.

It doesn't. If you click the *document close* button, OpenOffice will
stay open. Note that the "document close" button (black X on grey
background) is *not the same* as the "program close" button (white X on
red background).
And if I open a document, OO opens with a new file - but not with the file
that I clicked on. Is this usual. When yes: this is not practicable.
No. This is not normal. When you say "open a document", exactly how are
you doing that? If you are in an Explorer window and double click a file
whose type is associated to OpenOffice then OpenOffice will open with
that file, just like any other Windows program.
