I am a novice and need help asap.
Thanks.
Macs come with JRE installed. Open your
OpenOffice.org. Click on 'OpenOffice.org' (left side of menu bar),
click 'Preferences'. Under the heading
"OpenOffice.org" click 'Java'. Put a check mark in the box beside "Use a Java runtime environment". If no JRE's show in the box of already installed JREs, click 'Add' and locate your JRE. It should be in
Applications/Utilities.

Larry, thank you for the quick response.
Did you not see where I wrote "Please reply to [email protected] only." I sent you a copy of my response to your address as a courtesy since you are not subscribed and would not otherwise see it. There are many people on the list who may be able to help you.

I open OpenOffice and I get 3 items on the menu bar,
OpenOfffice.org, File and Edit. And the
"Untitled1-OpenOffice.org Writer" window opens up.
I click OpenOffice.org and on top of the drop down
menu I click About OpenOffice.org 2.3.2, and I get
this window:
"This is an executable script saved as an application.
you can view or edit this script by choosing Edit
Script from the Edit menu." Click OK button. And there is nothing under Edit hi-lited that I can
click, and besides I don't know what Edit Script does.

Am I doing something wrong? Do you have any other
suggestions?

I don't know why this happens. If you had responded to the list, someone else may have had the answer.

Did you follow my previous suggestion? Preferences is the second item under OpenOffice.org. Did you click on it and look at the settings for Java

Appreciate all your help.
Thanks again.
