Hmmm. Which version of OO are you using and on which OS? I'm on Win XP Pro with OO 2.2 and, in the dreaded words of the software support guy "I cannot reproduce your problem".

Oh, goody. I'm using OOo 2.3.1 on WinXP. Here are a couple examples of what Writer has produced (line breaks are as shown):

    Usenet newsgroup comp.lang.c+
    +.moderated

    Northwest C
    ++ Users Group

Perhaps there is some paragraph setting I need to tweak. If so, any idea which it might be? As I said, no hyphens are being introduced, so I don't think this is a hyphenation issue.

Don't know. I've looked in the Help and on the net via Google but I can't find anything. When I typed "Usenet newsgroup comp.lang.c++.moderated" near the end of a line, Writer moved the whole name as a single entity, so that "comp" started the new line as I'd want. I hope Manfred (or someone) can help us.

I can reproduce it under XP with 2.3.1

First time I copied the test line above "Usenet newsgroup comp.lang.c++.moderated" and pasted into a Writer file near the end and it move the whole "comp.lang.c++.moderated" to the new line. But when I removed a few characters from before it it broke it as
comp.lang.c+
+.moderated

Sorry, don't know how to stop it.
