I have microsoft word document files, will i be able
to work with them without having to convert files or
documents whether i bring them over to openoffice and
edit old microsoft word doc files or create new word
documents in openoffice and bring them over to
microsoft office word and edit any documents created
by openoffice.
What incompatiblity issues will i have with anything
that i created with microsoft office suite period and
wish to bring them over to openoffice.
Can I do either one if I choose to work with openoffice..thanks
OpenOffice Writer has excellent, but not perfect compatibility with
Word. Also, it does not work with the new Office 2007 .DOCX files. You
can read & write older Word (.DOC)documents with Writer, that can also
be used in Microsoft Office. Another thing to consider is the Sun ODF
plug-in, which enables Microsoft Office to work with the ISO standard
ODF file formats that OpenOffice uses by default.
