The user that thought it was the wrong java/JRE actually downloaded and installed the then current 2.2.1 version from OOo. The bug still exists in the Feisty 2.2.0 version and didn't get backported - I guess the expectation is that everyone will upgrade to Gutsy. It's a bug in the Feisty (7.04) OOo version - 2.2.0-1ubuntu5. It is corrected in the Gutsy (7.10) OOo version (1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5).
